With the newly released "Fuller House" having been released on Netflix this week, I thought I would make this next post about "Full House."

Full House was a sitcom that ran in the late-eighties and early nineties. It takes place in San Francisco, and it is about a single dad, Danny Tanner, who has suddenly lost his wife in a car accident and is left to raise his three daughters DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Danny asks his brother-in-law, Jesse, and his best friend, Joey, to move in with him to help him raise his girls. The family grows even bigger throughout the show as "Uncle Jesse" marries Becky and has twins.

This is a fun, light-hearted family show about one big happy family living together, even if they aren't all related. It's kind of cheesy, but in a the good ol' nineties way
(like the characters look at the camera with a smile when their name appears on the screen). Many people remember the theme song "Everywhere You Look.":

It's a classic. It also had a lot of familiar catchphrases like "you got it, dude! (thumbs up)," "aw, nuts!", "how rude!", "have mercy!", "cut. it. out.", and many others. All the characters have their own little quirks, like Danny is a neat-freak and is obsessed with keeping things clean. Jesse a rockstar and is a big Elvis fan, and Joey is a stand-up comic who is really good at doing impressions. It's fun watching three guys trying to raise three girls, and everybody is learning and growing as the show goes on. This was the show where Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen got their start in acting, but they've moved away from acting and they're in the fashion business, now.

And now, its new incarnation, "Fuller House," is airing on Netflix with 13 whole episodes. DJ moves back into the house after having lost her husband, and she now has three kids to take care of. But, her sister, Stephanie, and best friend, Kimmy, move in to help her out (sound familiar?). Here's a trailer:

In the first episode, it opens up with the same familiar theme song and then it cuts to the familiar house with "29 years later". We first see Danny, Uncle Jesse, Joey, and then Becky with their familiar personalities. Then DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy (DJ's annoying best friend who happily invites herself into the house much to Danny Tanner's chagrin) walk in (separately). We soon learn that Michelle is "busy in New York running her fashion empire" (just like how Mary-Kate and Ashley now run a fashion business). According to People, they were asked about not returning for the role of Michelle, and Ashley said that she wasn't comfortable in front of the camera anymore, while Mary-Kate said that the timing is bad. I can understand, since they're busy running a fashion empire in real life across the country, but perhaps down the road, maybe Mary-Kate could make a cameo or two. Who knows? But the most of the other actors have returned, including the guys that played Jesse and Becky's twin boys, who are now in college.

And then the actual theme song kicks in with a more modern look and sound. The episode consists of them having a going away party and there are a lot of references to the original, like the old one-liners, catchphrases, and Jesse even sings a song he wrote back then. We see a little bit of Danny, Jesse, and Joey in DJ's kids. Even Stephanie seems to have grown up to be like her Uncle Jesse.

It's basically one big nostalgia-fest, and I look forward to seeing the rest of it.
